There’s concern brewing around one of Nigeria’s most respected music legends, 2Baba, and it’s not just about the usual social media drama.
Popular media personality, Do2dtun has raised an alarm over what many thought was just another celebrity apology.
Recall just a few days ago, 2Baba caused a stir when he appeared on a podcast with Nedu and made a controversial statement.
According to the ace musician, “A man is not built to be with one woman sexually”.
As expected, the internet didn’t hold back. Opinions flew, and fans had a lot to say. But in a surprising twist, 2Baba hopped on Instagram shortly after, on July 2 and posted an emotional apology.
In the clip, he admitted he “f*cked up,” apologised to his wife Natasha, his kids, and fans, saying, “That’s not who I am.”
Reacting, Do2dtun stormed his X social media account, to share a series of heartfelt tweets. He made it clear that something deeper might be going on with 2Baba. He wrote:
“This is not the 2face we know. Something is not right at all.
“He hardly addresses scandals, even at the height of them. So why now?”
Do2dtun went further, suggesting that the singer may be in a vulnerable state and could be under pressure from people around him—people who may not have his best interests at heart.
The OAP added:
“Whoever is holding that camera is wicked. Someone is forcing him to be who he is not. Something is wrong.”
Do2dtun, who has never hidden his respect for 2Baba, hinted that the artiste’s emotional state needs to be taken seriously, far beyond the entertainment angle. According to him, the way 2Baba is being made to retract, apologise, and explain himself “like a child” is alarming.
And the OAP isn’t alone in this line of thought. While some fans applauded 2Baba’s maturity and responsibility, others agree that the sudden back-and-forth is uncharacteristic.
For years, 2Baba has been the poster child for staying mute during controversies. The fact that he’s suddenly so public with his feelings has left many wondering about what’s really going on behind the scenes?
Do2dtun even referenced the late Sound Sultan, a long-time friend and confidant of 2Baba, saying the singer desperately needs a support system like that now. Someone grounded. Someone who tells him the hard truths behind closed doors. Someone who reminds him who he is and not what the internet or PR wants him to be. Do2dtun concluded:
“It might sound like it makes no sense now. Give it a few years, and we’ll come back to this conversation.”
