“Why anyone who married me before 30 would’ve cried” – Chioma Good Hair

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Chioma Ikokwu, better known as Chioma Good Hair, has shared why she believes anyone who married her in her 20s, or earlier, would have cried. This revelation came while pleading with fans to stop pressuring her about marriage.

The 34-year-old gave the warning via her Snapchat account. She was responding to a message from a follower who appeared concerned about her marital status.

“I know you mean well, but I don’t like messages like this, Rama. Don’t put pressure on me, please. It’s too late, lol. With all the technology in the world, stop it! Plus, I’m in my 30s, I’ve got time!”

Chioma added that she is not married by choice, not circumstance.

“We are not in 1885 anymore. And I promise you that I’m not married right now. It’s not by circumstance. It’s by choice. I’m not going to settle because everyone’s walking down the aisle and some are getting divorced six months later.”

“Please, God’s timing is everything. I’ll do it right. Love you though, because I know you mean well.”

In a follow-up post, the Real Housewives of Lagos star said she was not emotionally ready for marriage in her 20s. She disclosed:

“Tbh, anyone that would’ve married me before 30 would’ve cried because I truly wasn’t ready. I still wanted to travel the world, grow in my career and be free.”

Now, she says she feels ready,but not desperate.

“Am I satisfied now? Yes. Am I ready now? Yes. Am I desperate? Absolutely not.”

She also pointed out that everyone’s journey is different.

“Some people have been ready since they were 16 years old — that’s all good. That wasn’t me.”

Chioma has often spoken against society’s pressure on women to marry early. She made a similar statement earlier this year, saying “Don’t put pressure on me please.”

Apart from reality TV, Chioma is a lawyer and a successful businesswoman. She co-founded Good Hair Ltd, a luxury hair brand. She also owns the high-end Lagos restaurant Brass & Copper. She is involved in humanitarian work too.

Chioma was born in Lagos on June 25, 1989. She holds a law degree from the University of Birmingham and a master’s from SOAS, University of London, where she studied International Environmental Law and Arbitration.
