Nollywood actor and popular content creator, Adeyemi Elesho, better known as Yemi Elesho, has shared an emotional and humorous recount of his childhood.
The skit maker revealed that he didn’t know veteran Yoruba comic actor Adewale Elesho aka Baba Elesho was his father until he was about 10 years old.
Speaking in an interview with actress Biola Bayo on the Talk To B show, Yemi said the revelation came unexpectedly while watching a movie with his mother. He revealed:
“I didn’t know that man was my dad for five to ten years. One day, we were watching a film and my mother was like, ‘That’s your dad.’”

The comedian recalled a bold move he made as a young boy, running away from home when his mother wasn’t around. Before leaving, he wrote her a letter telling her not to look for him because he was going to Lagos to find his father. He said:
“I wore a tight black round-neck shirt and bathroom slippers. I lied to a family member that my mother was dead just so they would allow me stay. I was only going to see my dad.”
Yemi also reflected on his early days in entertainment, explaining that he was making comedy skits long before the term “skit” became popular. He admitted that despite being the son of a famous comic, his journey in the industry wasn’t as smooth as people might think.

The entertainer gave a special shout-out to nightlife personality Yhemo Lee, revealing that he always covers the bills whenever they hang out. He shared:
“Shout-out to Yhemo Lee. As long as you are with him when he’s around, he pays all our bills. After eating, none of us paid, he would clear everything.”
Ending on a note of gratitude, Yemi shared one of his life mottos:
“As long as you are contented, you are rich.”
