Queen of Afrobeats, Tiwa Savage, is letting the world know that the era of dating broke men is officially over. In a no-holds-barred interview with UK media personality Zeze Mills, the 42-year-old singer got real about her past relationships, financial expectations in love, and the bold steps she’s taken to secure her reproductive future. Tiwa admitted:
“I used to make the mistake of dating down. Saying things like, ‘I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love.’ But now? I think I need someone that just has money.”
The ‘Koroba’ hitmaker said she’s finally done experimenting with love built solely on vibes and promises. According to her, she’s ready to flip the script and give wealthy romance a try. She continued:
“Love is really nice, but you can judge me for wanting a wealthier person if you want. I’ve tried the other way for so many years. Let me try what it’s like dating a wealthy man.”

Savage was once married to her former manager, Tunji “Teebillz” Balogun, in a union that ended in 2018 after a string of public controversies. The two share a son, Jamil, whom she welcomed in 2015.
In the same interview, Tiwa opened up about another major decision of freezing her eggs.
The singer revealed she took the step as a way of preserving her options, especially since she isn’t sure whether she wants more children or not. And for women in their 30s, she strongly advised:
“Whether you wanna have children or not, egg freeze!
“I wish I did it earlier. But I’ve done it now. Just to have that insurance.”

Tiwa explained that her decision came from understanding how unpredictable egg reserves can be.
“You could wake up at 36 and your egg reserve is done. And that’s when you now decide you want kids.”
Tiwa Savage welcomed her son at 34 and says having a child in her 30s allowed her to be more emotionally and financially stable, but she encourages younger women to consider taking control of their reproductive timeline.
