When football royalty meets music royalty, the internet can’t help but pick sides.
Cristiano Ronaldo recently proposed to his long-time partner, Georgina Rodríguez, gifting her a massive diamond engagement ring that instantly became the talk of social media. The couple, who have been together since 2016, share a blended family with five children.
Georgina, a Spanish-Argentine model, has stood by Ronaldo through his club transfers, World Cup appearances, and global brand deals. While marriage rumours have trailed them for years, Ronaldo had always hinted that the wedding would happen “sooner or later.”
Now, with this proposal on August 11, it seems “later” has finally arrived and the size of the ring left fans stunned. The jaw-dropping engagement ring, according to experts, could be worth over $5 million.
But in Nigeria, another celebrity couple’s love story is still fresh in fans’ minds, that’s Davido and Chioma Rowland. The Afrobeats star tied the knot with his long-time partner in a glamorous Lagos wedding in June 2024, years after first introducing her to the world in his 2018 hit song Assurance.
One of the biggest highlights of that glamorous day was Chioma’s wedding ring, a dazzling 10-carat GIA-certified F-color oval diamond, internally flawless and valued at a jaw-dropping $950,000 (about ₦1.5 billion).
So, when Ronaldo’s grand gesture went public, social media wasted no time pitting the two rings and their givers against each other.
The comments section under the viral post was a mix of awe, banter, and playful rivalry. Some users couldn’t resist declaring a winner:
“Just like Chioma’s ring,” one person wrote, while another claimed, “Davido ring to Chioma is more expensive.”
