Controversial businessman Ikechukwu Ogbonna, better known as IVD, has reportedly been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a court ruling today, Friday, August 15, 2025
He will remain in custody until September 28, pending further proceedings in his ongoing domestic violence case connected to the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
The ruling comes two weeks after IVD’s dramatic arrest at the airport on August 1, when he was allegedly attempting to board a flight to Qatar. Reports at the time claimed his attempted trip violated restrictions tied to the high-profile case, which has gripped public attention since Bimbo’s tragic death in October 2022.
Following his arrest, IVD’s current partner, self-proclaimed relationship and mental health expert Blessing CEO, took to social media to defend him, calling the detention “bullying and intimidation.” She denied he had any travel ban, insisting he had never jumped bail in three years and had even made his travel plans public. In her words:
“IVD never submitted any passport to the court… There was no ban whatsoever on him. If there was, why would he make his travel public? He has never jumped bail in three years of the ongoing case. Why would he run for just a 10-day trip that had a return ticket?”
Blessing CEO further accused powerful individuals of using influence to keep IVD locked up without a formal case file, alleging that the move was politically and emotionally motivated. She claimed:
“This is a game of politics and dirty emotions… Nobody arrested IVD. One man is using power to bully him. No case file, no statement, just ‘Oga said hold him till Monday.’ For what?”
Her fiery statements have kept the case in the headlines, reigniting debates about justice, gender dynamics, and media bias.
For now, with IVD officially remanded, all attention turns to the next court date.
