Popular Nigerian singer, songwriter, and recording artist, Bukola Elemide popularly known as Asa has revealed why she collaborated with Grammy-winning artist, Wizkid on a track in her new album.
Asa’s album titled ‘V’ is finally here, after months of teasing the release of her fifth studio album with fantastic singles like ‘Mayana’ and ‘Ocean’ and surprisingly, seven years after Wizkid expressed his desire to work with Asa on a track, they finally get to work together.
‘I Don’t Go’ (IDG) is a three-minute track on the ‘V’ album featuring Wizkid.
Speaking on why she finally did the collaboration with Wizkid, Asa revealed that there is a friendship while she also urges artists to build a connection with whoever they intend to collaborate with.

“With Wizkid, there’s a friendship. Before the music, we sit down, we have a drink and just talk about all kinds of things — animals and normal things about his life.
“I thought it (the song) would be great with Wizkid because it fits his temperament, so I sent it to him and he loved it. It was natural.
“Before we do a song, I want it to be honest. We should have a connection with all these collaborators (on the album), that was what we did.”
Collaborations with highlife duo The Cavemen titled ‘Good Times’ and another with Ghanaian diva Amaarae titled ‘All I Ever Wanted’ also made it to the album on the seventh and tenth spot respectively.
