Gubernatorial Candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADP) in 2018 and ex-secretary to Osun state government, Moshood Adeoti has asked members of All Progressives Congress (APC) under the Osun Progressives better known as TOP to remain committed and work towards installing a member of the group as governor in 2022.

This was made known by the former secretary to the Osun state government, Adeoti at the meeting of The Osun Progressives, a faction in APC backed by Aregbesola in Osogbo on Tuesday.

Adeoti who was joined by the ex-deputy speaker of House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, and ex-Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam also declared that all members of the past cabinet knew about the state’s debt portfolio.

He also said apart from the approval’s pen of the former governor (Aregbesola), the present governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, while serving as Chief of Staff to the Aregbesola was more powerful than Aregbeola.

He further said all his efforts to prevent further disintegration of APC in the state, failed because party elders that made promises to intervene failed to fulfill their promises.

He said, “On the issue of Osun debt portfolio, all of us in Rauf Aregbeola’s administration knew how much we owed. The current governor was more powerful than Aregbesola at that time, I swear by God. It was only the approval pen that Aregbesola had. It should not be then Chief of Staff, if anyone would deny Aregbesola.

“At a time, Ogbeni (Aregbesola) gave a blanket order that all the MDAs should pass their files through the CoS to him. I ignored the directive because I know that the office of Chief of Staff office has no constitutional backing.

“I told Aregbesola that he did not appreciate us, his aides and that was the cause of his travails. If you know how much Aregbesola spent on the rerun of seven units – it was huge because a voter was given N50,000 to N100,000 and they still accused him of not supporting the candidate (Oyetola).”

In his remarks, ex-House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf, said he decided to join hands with other leaders in TOP because of his love for the progressives and his relationship with the Minister of Interior, Aregbesola.
