The national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a five-member screening panel for the 2022 governorship primary in Osun state. Mohammed Bello Adoke, former attorney-general of the federation, will chair the committee, with Rahman Owokoniran, the south-west zonal secretary, serving as the secretary. Other members are Aminu Wali, a former minister of foreign affairs, Nnenna Ukeje, a former member of the house of reps, and Fidelis Tapgun, former governor of Plateau state. Adoke was also the chairman of the PDP screening committee for the national convention last year. The screening is scheduled to hold on Wednesday in Abuja at the national secretariat of the party. Umar Bature, the PDP national organising secretary, asked members of the panel to be guided “strictly” by the party’s constitution, the electoral guidelines of the party and the electoral act. Among the governorship aspirants are Demola Adeleke, the party’s candidate in the 2018 election. He lost narrowly to the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, who will be seeking re-election. Other aspirants are: Akin Ogunbiyi, Dele Adeleke, Sanya Omirin, Fatai Akinbade, and Dotun Babayemi. The governorship is election is slated for July 16, 2022. All candidates are expected to have been decided by March 12.
