Olubadan of Ibadanland, Olalekan Balogun has stated that he hopes that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo becomes president of Nigeria soon.

This was made known on Friday by the monarch when Osinbajo visited him at his palace in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo.

Balogun described the vice-president as a “wonderful person”, adding that God will help him achieve his dream.

“Very soon, hopefully, in God’s name, you would be president of Nigeria,” he said.

“Like we watch ourselves, God watches us too and nine out of 10 cases, what we think of ourselves is what God thinks about us.

“Vice-President Osinbajo, you’re a wonderful person. May Allah grant you access to what you want out of life. May Allah support you. May Allah protect you. So shall it be.”

On his part, Osinbajo said he wants to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari to maintain the progress recorded thus far.

The vice-president said “there is so much to be done”, adding that Nigeria will realise its full potential when he becomes president.

He said Buhari has provided him with opportunities that most vice-presidents did not have.

“After all that, I felt it would be the right thing to do to make that experience available to the people of our country if by the grace of God, and the will of the people, I am voted in as president come 2023,” he added.
