87 APC aspirants jostle for 26 Osun assembly seats

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the Chairman of APC screening committee has disclosed that 87 members of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State have obtained forms to contest 26 House of Assembly seats in the next general election.

This was made known on Tuesday by the Chairman of the APC screening committee, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu while addressing Journalists after meeting aspirants at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo.

Ize-Iyamu further explained that 81 of the aspirants paid for their forms in Osun, while six others bought their forms in Abuja.

Assuring that the committee would be fair to all aspirants, Ize-Iyamu said the committee members had told the aspirants the documents that would be required for the screening

“87 aspirants (are contesting) for 26 seats of the House of Assembly. That is to tell you how popular the APC is. 81 bought their forms in Osun here and bought forms in Abuja.

“There are constitutional requirements and there are party requirements, but basically, we want to be sure they are Nigerian citizens. We want to see local government certificates, they must be party members.

“They must be voters, and we also want to know their age, we want to see their educational qualifications, if you claim to be a doctor, you must provide a certificate to prove it,” Ize-Iyamu said.
