Muhammad Sani Abacha filed a pre-election lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sadik Aminu Wali, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Federal High Court in Kano, presided over by Justice A.M. Liman, has postponed hearings until October 20, 2022.

Abacha asks the court in an originating summons to declare him the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election held in Kano after he met the requirements of the Electoral Act of 2022 (as amended) and received the most votes overall in the election held on May 25, 2022.

Reuben Atabor (SAN), the plaintiff’s attorney, informed the court that he filed some processes on behalf of his client to regularise his position when the case was taken up again on Friday for the hearing of the substantive suit.

In their responses, Counsels to the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Suleiman Alkali, Sadik Aminu Wali and of the PDP, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable them respond to the application by counsel to Abacha, seeking to regularize his processes.
