Atiku defeats Tinubu in Buhari’s home state, Katsina

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has defeated his counterpart from the All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, Katsina.

Atiku scored the highest number of votes from the 34 Local Government Area in the state.

The former vice President polled 489,045 votes to beat his closest contender, Tinubu, who scored 482,283.

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Presidential Candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso came third with 69,385 votes followed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party with 6,376 votes.

Results to be officially announced in a jiffy by Katsina State Presidential Collation Officer, Prof Ma’azu Abubakar.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that President Buhari delivered his Local Government Area (Daura) for the APC and Tinubu.

Tinubu of the APC won with 16,889 votes, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 12,913 to occupy second position, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) polled 2,368 votes. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) got 78 votes.

The President’s special assistant on digital media, Bashir Ahmad, shared the result via his Twitter account.
