  • Yobe State PDP member, Lawan Musa Majakura, officially defects to APC, welcomed by Governor Buni for his potential and commitment
  • Majakura cites APC’s positive impact on infrastructure in his constituency, expressing a desire to collaborate for enhanced community development

The solitary member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Yobe State House of Assembly, Lawan Musa Majakura, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Majakura, who previously defeated the then Speaker of the Assembly, Ahmed Lawan Mirwa, in the Nguru II state constituency election, made the move to the APC. Governor Mai Mala Buni welcomed Majakura into the APC during a reception on Thursday, praising the lawmaker as a young and vibrant politician with significant potential.

Governor Buni acknowledged Majakura’s commitment to serving his constituency effectively and noted the support he received from credible politicians accompanying him to the event. He emphasized the importance of politics as a means of serving the people.

In his statement, Majakura expressed his conviction in joining the APC, citing the commendable efforts of the Buni administration in providing infrastructure to his constituency. He specifically mentioned the positive transformations in roads, housing estates, medical facilities, and other areas that have positively impacted communities in his constituency.

APC Labels PDP a Threat to Democracy, Citing Unfounded Attacks on Judiciary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asserted that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), once a formidable opposition, has deviated from its purpose and now hinders partisan democracy.

This response comes in the wake of allegations made by PDP’s acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, who claimed that the APC was scheming to utilize compromised election petition courts to overturn PDP victories.

In a statement issued by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party criticized the PDP for launching attacks to undermine democratic institutions, particularly the judiciary, accusing it of attempting to coerce the judiciary into compliance with its electoral agenda.
