  • Muhammad Baba Usman, a local resident, described the tragic event where armed assailants arrived, firing indiscriminately, resulting in casualties and abductions

Tragedy struck along Sultan Abubakar III International Airport road, Sokoto, as unidentified gunmen killed a National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officer and abducted three individuals.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:30 pm, shocked the community. Muhammad Baba Usman, a resident whose son was among the victims, recounted the harrowing event.

“At around 9:30 pm, four armed assailants arrived in a vehicle, parking it roadside. Without warning, they unleashed a barrage of gunfire, resulting in the tragic death of one individual from a stray bullet,” Usman lamented.

In addition to the loss of life, the gunmen seized three other individuals, including Usman’s son, leaving families anxiously awaiting communication regarding their fate.

ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, spokesperson for the Sokoto Police Command, confirmed the victim’s identity as an NDLEA official en route to Sokoto’s metropolis. Rufa’i assured law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the perpetrators, striving to bring them to justice.
