  • Chief Dan Orbih withdraws from PDP campaign council, citing doubts about Governor Obaseki and candidate Asue Ighodalo’s capabilities
  • Orbih expresses dissatisfaction with the state of affairs of the Edo PDP and emphasizes the need for a candidate who truly represents Edo’s interests

Chief Dan Orbih, the South-South National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has made a significant decision to withdraw from the party’s campaign council in anticipation of the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

Expressing his reservations, Orbih believed that neither Governor Godwin Obaseki nor the gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo, can effectively navigate Edo State through its current challenges.

Addressing stakeholders during an Edo North PDP (legacy group) meeting at his residence in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area, Orbih emphasized his disassociation from the PDP campaign council, delivering a resounding message to the party leadership.

“I hereby declare my separation from the PDP campaign council in Edo State,” Orbih asserted. “Allow me to convey a stark truth to the PDP: the state of affairs within Edo PDP is far from satisfactory.”

Highlighting his discontent with the direction of the party, Orbih underscored the importance of selecting a candidate capable of genuinely representing the interests of Edo State’s populace.

Furthermore, Orbih voiced his disapproval regarding the impeachment of the state deputy governor, Shaibu, while affirming the unwavering support of the PDP legacy group towards him.

Echoing Orbih’s sentiments, former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Kabiru Adjoto, pledged allegiance to Orbih’s stance, indicating their readiness to align with any decision he makes regarding the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
