  • ADC plans to deepen democracy in Nigeria, addressing citizen expectations and aiming to become a leading political force
  • ADC’s leadership retreat will focus on party discipline, digital organization, leadership quality, and voter apathy, reflecting diverse Nigerian perspectives

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its plans to deepen democracy in Nigeria and address the expectations of its citizens. The party aims to establish itself as a leading political force in the country.

The ADC will hold a leadership retreat for its executive committee members in Abuja on Monday. The retreat, themed “What Nigerian Voters Want – A Strategic Public Engagement,” follows a similar event held in Kaduna two weeks prior.

Dr. Chukwuka Monye, a former presidential hopeful of the ADC and a Board of Trustees (BOT) member, highlighted that the retreat would focus on understanding and meeting the needs of the Nigerian electorate. Dr. Monye, the retreat’s Lead Consultant, is a Wall Street Journal and Amazon bestselling author and a social innovator.

He stated, “The retreat will address four key areas: party discipline and governance, digital organization and mobilization, improving the quality of party leadership and candidates, and addressing voter apathy.”

The event will include a breakout group session to discuss the key outcomes from the panel session. This will be followed by synthesizing the recommendations from the breakout groups to better equip the party leadership for strategic repositioning.

Dr Monye emphasized that the panellists would represent a diverse cross-section of Nigerians from various geopolitical and socioeconomic backgrounds, ensuring that the discussions and outcomes reflect the broad spectrum of the Nigerian populace.
