The manager of King Sunny Ade, Clement Ige has accused the duo of using the Sunny Adeâs lyrics without seeking permission.
Ige speaking at Goldbergâs âAriya Repeteâ Roundtable discourse in Abeokuta, stated that this generation of artists are proud.
He said; âThey use English language to speak Yoruba. Like the young man who sang âmakole marale.â How do you build house before buying a land?â he asked. Many of them donât give credit to the original composer of the song they adopt. They just sing it without seeking permission. Thatâs a copyright infringement. Itâs not done in developed societies.
âTill today, Small Doctor didnât get our permission before and after singing âijĂł tĂ mâojĂł lâĂ nĂĄ, tĂ wá»n nâpariwo, oni nká», ola nká».â And many of them are guilty of this.
âThat Davido that used Sunnyâs lyrics in his song didnât even get it right and thatâs because he didnât ask for permission. If he did, we would have corrected him. What is âKuluso ewe, agbagba ewe?â
âThe line is actually âSeleru agbo, agbara agboâ. I know because I co-wrote the song!â
