An 18-year-old boy who resides in Atlanta Georgia has received a life sentence for strangling his sister to death during a dispute over the Wi-Fi password.

The boy identified as Kevon Watkins was aged 16 at the time of the brutal attack which occurred in February 2018. He was said to have been playing a game on his Xbox before changing the password of the family’s Wi-Fi because the internet was slow as many people were using it.

His mother, at a point, tried to take his Xbox from his room when his sister Alexus, aged 19, confronted him, as was revealed during the witness testimony at the teen’s trial as well as the 911 calls from the incident.

In the course of the argument between Kevon and Alexus, the teen held his elder sister in a chokehold and did not let her go for more than 10 minutes until the police got to the scene, The Macon Telegraph reported.

Early the next morning, Alexus was pronounced dead of asphyxiation at a local hospital.

Kevon was found guilty of aggravated assault and felony murder on Friday, August 2, 2019.

Judge Verda Colvin, the Bibb County Superior Court Judge during the hearing, explained that she found Kevon guilty of murder instead of the voluntary manslaughter as his 13-year-old brother had made efforts to make him stop choking their sister.

“Even under the best estimation, by the time [a sheriff’s deputy] got there …. It had been at least 11 minutes that the defendant had to have been choking his sister,” Colvin revealed, according to the local paper.

“In those 10 minutes, she had to have stopped moving. Perhaps that wasn’t noticed by the defendant because he was still angry.”
