The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Wednesday evening confirmed the Chairmanship nominations for 32 local government areas and 35 local council development areas but rejected the nomination of Mr Oyedokun Oyeniyi as caretaker chairman for Ogbomoso South local government,

It would be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde had on Monday forwarded the names of 68 Caretaker Chairmen designates for screening and confirmation.

Chairman, Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours, Honourable Olusegun Popoola who presented report of the screening of the nominees on Tuesday, however, failed to give specific reasons why Oyeniyi was deemed “not appointable”.

Oyeniyi’s rejection comes on the back of protests against his candidature by leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ogbomoso South at state Secretariat, Ibadan, on Tuesday.
