Fire razes parts of Owerri airport

Some parts of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, the capital of Imo State have been gutted by fire suspected to be as a result of bushfire.

As at the time of reporting, the cause of the fire is still unknown but the fire incident was described as a bush fire by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement released by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria in the evening.

Yakubu said firefighters are currently working to control the spread of the fire.  She added that the incident did not affect flight operations.
