The Nigerian family of five nurses in Texas, USA who worked tiredlessly on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, could not contain their excitement upon seeing Burna Boy as they were being honoured as healthcare heroes.

Singer, songwriter and multi-award-winning superstar, Burna Boy made an appearance to honour the Nigerian family who were made healthcare heroes on Jimmy Kimmel Live show-segment, #HealthcareHeroes anchored by Hollywood actress, Kerry Washington, best known for her role as ‘Olivia Pope’ in political series ‘Scandal’.

The Ginigeme family of five nurses; Enuma, Dera, Uche, Kosi and Jide, were honoured for their unrelenting work on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As huge fans of the Afro-fusion Superstar, Burna Boy, Kerry Washington brought him into their conversation where he brought some ‘Naija’ flavour into the interaction with the family.

Together, Burna Boy and Kerry Washington surprised the five members of the nursing family with a token sum of $5,000 each as a show of appreciation for the unending hours they put in and succour they brought to victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.

iRobot, known for their Roomba robot vacuum cleaners also made a donation of vacuum cleaners to the family of nurses.

For the Grammy-nominated Afrofusion artiste Burna Boy, this is more than his recently released album, it is pivoting his Nigerian heritage to reach his global audience while putting smiles on the faces of his fans.
