Man who was accused of raping woman and plucking out her eyes in Ondo lands in detention

A yet-to-be identified naked man who was accused of raping and plucking out the eyes of a woman has been arrested by police officers in Ondo state.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that a suspected rapist has been beaten to coma in Akure, the Ondo State capital after allegedly raping and plucking the eyes of his victim. The suspect whose identity is yet to be ascertained was beaten by a mob who descended on him after he allegedly committed the crime. With the suspect yet to wake up from the coma, an eyewitness said he committed the crime at Oluwatuyi area of Akure in Ondo State.

The alleged rapist was rescued from being killed by the mob following the intervention of the police.

It took the intervention of policemen to prevent the mob from killing the alleged rapist.

Reacting to the development on Wednesday, February 3, the police public relations officer in the state, ASP Tee-Ikoro confirmed the incident.

He added that the alleged rapist and his victim have been admitted to the Police Hospital in Akure for treatment.
