According to Malcolm X, history is a people’s memory, and without a memory, man is demoted to the lower animals.

History accommodates all events. It does more than reflection, it exposes one to weakness of the past and allows one to be strengthened in the present owing to lessons acquired from the past.

In an effort to create awareness and enlighten our readers or preserve our memories as worthy citizens, WITHIN NIGERIA has highlighted four significant events that shaped March 7 in the history of this country, Nigeria.

Religious conflicts in Jos resulted in over 100 deaths, mostly women and children.

On this date, 7th of March in 2010, more than 100 people were killed near the Nigerian city of Jos, most of whom were reportedly women and children.
