Meet Brigadier General Musa Uba, the heroic Nigerian soldier who was killed by ISWAP in an ambush

ISWAP fighters on Friday, November 14, tragically killed Brigadier General Musa Uba in an ambush in Borno State.


WITHIN NIGERIA learned that the senior military officer was leading a convoy operation alongside Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members when the attack occurred.

However, the Nigerian military had initially denied reports of Uba’s capture, but ISWAP, in a twist, claimed responsibility for the ambush and released photos showing the capture and execution of the brigadier general.

Following the confirmation of the sad demise of Brigadier Musa Uba, President Tinubu and other prominent Nigerians have described it as a tragic loss and hailed Uba’s courage and bravery.

He was born on January 27, 1978, in Kano State

He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Bayero University in Kano

He pursued postgraduate studies in public administration and strategic development studies

He had a sterling military career that spanned over two decades

He led several commanding troops in Borno

He was in charge of training at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College

He served as Director of Defense Information

He was a commander of the 25th Task Force Brigade

He led operations against ISWAP insurgents in Borno

Sadly, he died in an ISWAP ambush on Friday, November 14, 2025, while leading a convoy operation in Borno

He was captured and later executed in cold blood by the insurgents

He was a Nigerian military commander who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the war against insurgency
