Benny and Suzanne Hinn’s marriage crash

Benny Hinn and Suzanne Hinn spent decades building a life shaped by faith, family, and public ministry. Their journey together was filled with love, shared ambitions, and the quiet challenges that come with a life lived in the spotlight. They raised a family, supported a growing ministry, and navigated the pressures of public attention while maintaining personal bonds.

Their story is not just about the public successes or struggles that people could see from afar. It is about the private moments, the effort required to stay connected, and the resilience needed to face life’s challenges together. It reflects the complexity of long-term partnership, showing that marriage involves both joy and struggle, compromise and growth, and the ongoing effort to understand and support one another.

How It All Began: Young Love and Big Dreams

Benny Hinn and Suzanne Harthern married on August 4 1979. At that time Benny was a young evangelist with a vision for global ministry. Suzanne, daughter of a pastor, shared his faith and passion. Together they seemed like a team ready to face the world.

The early years of their marriage coincided with Benny’s rise in ministry. In the 1980s he founded the Orlando Christian Center and began reaching thousands of people through weekly services and healing crusades. Television soon became a big part of his life. Shows like ‘This Is Your Day’ brought his message into homes across the United States and later around the world.

Through it all Suzanne was present. She supported him publicly and privately, raising their four children and managing family life while Benny traveled internationally. For outsiders, it looked like a strong, united family dedicated to faith and ministry.

Yet behind the public image, the pressures of ministry were immense. Constant travel, long hours, and the demands of leading a large congregation put strain on personal life. Suzanne also struggled privately with prescription medication dependency, a challenge that would later become a key factor in their first divorce.

Despite these challenges, the couple spent decades together. Their life together was full of highs and lows, public triumphs and private struggles, love and sacrifice. They built a family, a ministry, and a legacy, but as time would show, even long marriages can be tested in ways nobody outside can fully understand.

First Collapse: When Faith and Life Started to Crack

After more than thirty years together, cracks began to appear in Benny and Suzanne Hinn’s marriage. On January 26 2010, the couple separated, and a few days later, on February 1 2010, Suzanne filed for divorce in Orange County Superior Court in California citing irreconcilable differences.

The reasons for the split were complex. Publicly, Benny acknowledged that Suzanne had struggled with prescription drug dependency. He said that her challenges with medication contributed to emotional instability and ultimately to the breakdown of their marriage. At the same time, Benny admitted that his own long hours, constant travel, and ministry commitments had taken a toll on the family. He spent much of his time leading crusades, filming television programs, and traveling internationally, leaving Suzanne to manage the home and children largely on her own.

The divorce generated considerable media attention. Rumors circulated, including claims of infidelity that Benny denied. He insisted that his relationship with other ministry colleagues, including Paula White, was purely professional and that there was no immorality involved. For the family, this period was emotionally intense. The children were old enough to understand that something significant was happening, and the separation brought both sadness and uncertainty.

During this period, Suzanne spent time in a treatment facility addressing her prescription medication dependency. This was described as a painful but necessary step in her personal recovery. Benny, for his part, publicly reflected on the role of his ministry in creating distance in the marriage and acknowledged that his focus on global ministry had caused him to neglect his family.

By the end of 2010, the first chapter of their marriage had officially closed. The divorce marked a turning point for both, a period of personal reflection, growth, and an understanding of the vulnerabilities that can exist even in long-term marriages.

Second Chance: Reconciliation and a Public Remarriage

After the divorce in 2010, Benny and Suzanne Hinn spent some time apart. Those years were quiet compared to the public attention surrounding their first separation. During that period, both focused on personal growth, family, and faith. Benny continued his ministry work, while Suzanne focused on her recovery and rebuilding her life.

By the end of 2011, the couple began to explore reconciliation. They were seen attending family events together and participating in private prayer sessions, signaling a renewed willingness to rebuild their relationship. Benny described this period as a time of reflection and deep understanding of his mistakes. He admitted that the separation had been a painful lesson about prioritizing family alongside ministry.

Their reconciliation culminated in a public remarriage on March 3 2013. The ceremony took place at the Holy Land Experience theme park in Orlando, Florida and was attended by roughly 1,000 friends, family members, and ministry supporters. The event was both symbolic and celebratory, presenting a story of redemption and second chances to their followers.

The remarriage was framed as a renewal of vows not just to each other but to their faith and family. The couple publicly expressed their hope that the second chapter would be stronger, built on lessons learned from the first marriage and the years of separation. For a time, it seemed the marriage had been restored — a testimony of faith, forgiveness, and resilience.

Even after the remarriage, the couple faced ongoing challenges. The pressures of ministry, long hours, and international travel remained. Yet for several years, they maintained the appearance of a united family, working together in ministry and supporting their adult children as they grew into independence.

Quiet Years: Life Between the Public Spotlight

From 2013 onward, Benny and Suzanne Hinn’s remarriage seemed stable on the surface. The public spectacle faded, and for a while, their family and ministry life continued quietly. The couple continued to participate in ministry events, television broadcasts, and international crusades, maintaining a presence that reassured followers that the marriage was back on track.

Yet beneath the calm, old challenges quietly lingered. The demands of ministry never lessened. Benny continued his international travel schedule, leaving Suzanne to manage parts of the home and family responsibilities. Over time, these absences, though normalized in their earlier years may have contributed to emotional distance.

During this period, the family reportedly consolidated assets, including multiple real estate holdings in Florida. The couple remained involved in their ministry but scaled back some public appearances to focus on personal matters and family. Their children were growing into adulthood, and their needs shifted from dependence to independence, altering the family dynamics.

Even without public controversy, relationships can be tested quietly over years. Emotional fatigue, unspoken grievances, and the cumulative effect of long-term pressures often shape outcomes in ways that are not visible to outsiders. For the Hinns, these years were likely a mixture of genuine connection, shared faith, and the ongoing realities of managing a high-profile marriage.

Second Divorce: When Even Faith Could Not Hold It Together

In 2024, Suzanne Hinn filed for divorce from Benny Hinn a second time. The filings took place in Hillsborough County, Florida, and were described as uncontested. Reports indicate that the couple had already been living separately for a period before formally filing, with each maintaining residences in different parts of the state.

The divorce was finalized on November 2025. Unlike their first separation, this second split was framed as private and amicable. Statements from their attorneys emphasized that the divorce was due to personal reasons rather than public scandal. Both Benny and Suzanne reportedly remain close, maintain contact, and continue to support each other in family and ministry matters.

The end of the marriage marked the conclusion of a forty six year journey that had included two divorces, a remarriage, four children, decades of ministry work, and a high-profile public life. For followers of their ministry, the news was met with surprise but also respect for the way the separation was handled quietly, respectfully, and without public drama.

The second divorce highlighted that even after reconciliation, long-term marriages face challenges that sometimes cannot be fully overcome. Emotional distance, changing priorities, and the cumulative pressures of decades together can ultimately lead to separation, even when both parties maintain affection and respect for each other.

Conclusion: Lessons from Forty Six Years

Benny and Suzanne Hinn’s marriage was more than a public story. It was decades of shared dreams, faith, struggles, forgiveness, and growth. Their two divorces and remarriage show that even long-term love can face limits when personal needs and life paths change.

The story reminds us that marriage is never just about vows or appearances. It is about understanding, patience, and sometimes the courage to let go while keeping respect, care, and shared history alive.
