FACT CHECK: Image showing babies on plastic chairs is not from Nigeria

Claim: An image that has gone viral on X is suggested to be from Nigeria. The image shows babies placed on plastic chairs in what looks like a hospital. The images posted by X user, @prophetswitch, followed a caption that read, “ N344 billion for lawmakers’ salaries. Hospital for the masses – No bed for newborns”

The claim has garnered 483 comments, 6,800 retweets, 9,700 likes, and 378 bookmarks as at March 3, 2026. This image sparked several reactions, with X users blaming the Nigerian government for their failure.

Verification: Preliminary findings discovered that the image is not from Nigeria. A Google reverse image search conducted on the image traced it to Kawempe National Referral Hospital in Uganda.

Verdict: The image claiming to be from Nigeria is false. It is from Uganda.
