Award-winning Hollywood actress, Kerry Washington has amazed many when she showed off her Igbo writing skills and wrote to Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji’s using the Igbo language.
Genevieve had excitedly tweeted the news of the Oscars nomination of her film, ‘Lionheart’. Kerry commented on the tweet in the Igbo language, saying:
“This is glorious!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also… Anyi nwere ike i ga rie nri ehihie n’oge n’adighi anya?” (Meaning: “Can we have lunch sometime soon?”
Kerry Washington is the popular Olivia Pope, a crisis management expert, in the ABC drama series, Scandal. She is married to a Nigerian-American man, Nnamdi Asomugha and they have two kids together.
Kerry’s tweet in Igbo language made many Nigerians go ‘crazy’, causing the tweet to trend for long. See some of the reactions from people below.
