Etang Umoyo, the senator who represented Akwa Ibom South District during the aborted Third Republic is dead at the age of 71.
The former lawmaker who was ill for some time, died on Saturday February 13 as announced by his family on Monday February 15.
Umoyo was a foundation member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2017. He later returned to the PDP in 2018, claiming he was doing so in order to help Governor Udom Emmanuel win a second term.
In other news, Jasmine Chidimma Uwajumogu, the daughter of late Imo Senator, Benjamin Uwajumogu, has died.
Jasmine, 24, died on February 1, 2021 and was laid to rest on Friday, February 12 at Victoria Garden Cemetary, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Senator Uwajumogu, who represented Imo Senatorial District, slumped and died in his house while taking a bath on December 2019.
