23-year-old Wende Oluwaseun Beatrice from Ondo State has emerged the winner of the highly contested Miss South West Nigeria (MSWN) 2021 beauty pageant.
Oluwaseun, who is a skilled writer and a burgeoning movie producer, was crowned after she emerged victorious amongst all the 15 stunning contestants who took part in the contest.
The new queen, standing at 5 feet 4 inches, was stunned when the judges pronounced her winner. She couldn’t contain the shock as tears rolled down her cheeks in joy. Oluwaseun said she is unaware of what the future holds for her, but she is optimistic because optimism is why she is now Miss South West Nigeria.
Adewole Temidayo from Osun State emerged as the first runner-up and was bestowed with the ‘Miss Heritage South West Nigeria 2021’ title. The ‘Miss Intellectual South West Nigeria 2021’ title was conferred on the second runner-up, Ojo Theresa, a native of Osun state.
Ekiti state’s Olutade Florence was declared ‘Miss South West Nigeria Top Model 2021’ being the third runner-up, while Emma Odiba Precious was the fourth runner-up and was bequeathed as the ‘Face of Jupiter 2021’.
Queen Oluwaseun took over from queen Babajide Oluwapelumi Victoria, a native of Ondo State, after reigning from 2019 to 2021.
Outgoing queen Oluwapelumi, a 21-year-old Corp member, said she was only privileged to have served the people of South West Nigeria for two years due to the COVID-19 Pandemic that put the entire world on lockdown in 2020.
“COVID-19 is why my tenure spanned for two years, but I am grateful it did. It was an opportunity well utilised. I feel fulfilled handling over the crown to another reputable winner. I am sure Queen Oluwaseun will take the journey farther than I did.”
Tearful Oluwapelumi added that “I never thought I’d be this emotional. I served for two years and everything seems like it was just yesterday. I have met many people, doors opened and I am glad I used the platform to inspire, educate and impact others.”
“Being a queen is not just about wearing a crown, it is a challenge to better the life of everyone. I appreciate Jupiter NG, the organisers of Miss South West Nigeria and Heritage Awards, for making my journey hassle-free,” she concluded.
Renowned thespians Rykador Agbor and Muyiwa Adegoke, FarmKonnect Nigeria CEO, Larry Ma T, Life Sustenance, Super Grace Hair, Ade Fits, TVC, Chipsy, RC Cola and many other dignitaries from different industries graced the beauty show.
Miss South West Nigeria, organised by The Jupiter NG, concluded with a colourful gala night hosted by Big John and Vera at the Geeks event centre, Challenge in Ibadan, Oyo State on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
