Nigeria’s first NFT short film ‘A Second Husband’ premieres on YouTube

Nollywood is fast adapting to the growing NFT space as a couple of collections have started rolling out, one of which is the recently released ‘A Second Husband.’

Kenim Obaigbena, a Nigerian-British filmmaker, recently debuted the industry’s first-ever NFT short film, titled ‘A Second Husband,’ in 2020.

The film, which stars Osas Ighodaro, Ade Laoye, Ibrahim Jammal, Udoka Oyeka, and Diana Yekinni, is now available to the general public on YouTube.

‘A Second Husband’ tells the story of a wealthy woman who defies societal expectations by marrying a second husband, the second time to a much younger man, leaving her first husband to deal with the consequences of her actions.

The official trailer, which was shot in Lagos by Kenim’s OVG media production company, was released last year and received a lot of attention online.

Some of the advantages of getting the film as an NFT asset, according to the production company, include access to deleted scenes, a 1-hour Zoom conversation with the writer/director/producer, two invites to the writer/director/producer, and a copy of the film’s original script.

Kenim, the film’s writer and director, said she “wanted the world to see what it would be like when a man is forced into a situation that most women are forced into.”

Kenim is known for her work on films such as Biyi Bandele’s ‘Half of a Yellow Sun‘ and ‘Selfless,’ as well as ‘The Youth’ and ‘Great Divide.’
