Filmmaker Wale Fanu is dead

Film and television producer Wale Fanu has died at the age of 72. The late filmmaker was also a sickle cell anemia carrier and his death was confirmed by fellow filmmaker Jimi Odumosu in a Facebook post on Sunday, June 12.

Mr. Odumosu, who recently clocked 70, wrote:

“O dear! We just lost a great industry Practitioner, Wale Fanu. One of those who stood firmly by the burgeoning Motion Picture Industry back in the day. One of the pioneers who actually defined who we were, and who we would turn out to be. He helped in no small way to set up the defining moments, the platform, and the agenda for what a lot of people enjoy today. Wale was a very good man, a gentleman who always kept his word. He was a professional to the core. We shall miss him terribly. I shall miss him more. May his kind soul rest in perfect peace.”

Fanu was the managing director of Cinekraft until his death.

His production credits include the popular NTA series Mirror in the Sun and the movie Owo Blow.
