Actress cum Akwa Ibom Deputy Governorship candidate, Caroline Danjuma has taken a swipe at a troll who tackled her for naming her daughter after Britain’s longest-reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II.
The queen died at Balmoral, Scotland at the age of 96 after 70 long years on the throne.
In a short tribute to the Queen shared on Instagram on Thursday, Caroline revealed that her daughter Elizabeth was named after the monarch.
Her revelation was, however, received with a hostile reception by an Instagram user identified as Jennifer who questioned her decision to have named Elizabeth after the Queen. She wrote:
“You named your daughter after a woman who colonised your country, stole from your land and enslaved your people? Okay.”
The actress retorted:
“My choice. Same way people named their kids after those that sold Nigeria out of greed.”
The mother of three ended her 10-year-marriage to the younger brother of Nigeria’s former defence minister, Gen. TY Danjuma, in 2016 over allegations of infidelity.
Formerly known as Caroline Ekanem, the actress was introduced to Nollywood through late Chico Ejiro’s 2004 movie, Deadly Kiss.
