Young Nigerian songstress, Temmie Ovwasa, has once again poured out her grievances and accusations against her former label, YBNL boss Olamide, and his wife Bukunmi. In a lengthy statement, Temmie revealed how she experienced mistreatment by the couple.
According to her, she entered the music industry to sing, but Olamide presented her as the “princess” only for her to face disrespect and classism from his wife behind closed doors. She recounted public humiliations orchestrated by Olamide’s wife, who consistently reminded her of her humble background from Ilorin.
Temmie said she endured public humiliation everytime she went out with Olamide’s wife. She described her as a mean woman and considered herself fortunate not to have encountered her aggressive side.
The singer revealed that Olamide’s disorganized record label situation placed her in a household with his wife, who essentially turned her into an errand girl.
According to her, she found it surreal to be addressing Olamide’s rude wife as “ma” when there was only a two-year age gap between them.
Temmie recalled uncomfortable moments when Olamide’s wife would spray perfume on her, seemingly due to her perception of poverty, yet she didn’t hesitate to have a nanny care for her child.
She accused the couple of holding meetings to discuss her sexuality, communication style, and inability to understand her double speak. Temmie pointed out that these concerns were likely symptoms of autism, a fact she was unaware of at the time.
Despite Olamide’s assistance, Temmie claimed that he also added to her problems.
During her time at YBNL, Temmie said she recorded over 25 songs, but producer Pheelz allegedly misplaced the hard drive containing these tracks. In five years, she said she released only four songs while stating that she has recorded and released three albums since parting ways with YBNL.
Temmie boldly addressed the accusations that she was on drugs or facing depression when she spoke out about her experiences. She emphasized her strong aversion to hard drugs due to her history of mental health struggles.
She decided to speak up again because the discussions surrounding Mohbad’s death triggered memories of her own harsh experiences during her time with YBNL.
Temmie criticized Olamide for a pattern of elevating artists to global platforms and then abandoning them. She accused him of mismanaging multiple artists simultaneously and found the compensation she received from him to be insulting.
