  • Afrobeats sensation, Divine Ikubo also known as Rema has expressed his contemplation of stepping away from the music industry, even though he recently wowed the audience at the 2023 Ballon D’Or.
  • According to Rema, he believes his influence on Afrobeats is so significant that, if he were to quit music today, his name would forever remain in the Afrobeats Hall of Fame.
  • He confidently stated, “I’ll literally be in the New Testament, on the front page” of the Afrobeats Bible.

In a recent interview, acclaimed Afrobeats singer Rema opened up about his contemplation of stepping away from the music scene while confidently asserting that his influence on the genre has already cemented his place in the Afrobeats Hall of Fame.

Rema, who recently delivered a stellar performance at the prestigious 2023 Ballon D’Or, revealed his thoughts on leaving the music industry, emphasizing that even if he were to quit today, his name would remain synonymous with Afrobeats..

“I’m not saying I want to stop. But if I say I want to stop right now, my name is still going to be on the Afrobeats bible, if there is an Afrobeats bible to be dropped. I’ll literally be in the New Testament, on the front page,” Rema said.

He fondly recalled the initial ridicule he faced from fans and critics due to his soundtrack’s Bollywood influence when he gained prominence in 2019.

“Everything they doubted, everything they laughed at me for, I built on it. They called me Indian Boy; I went to India. I’m the first artist to shut down four cities in India, 5000 capacity and above. No one can deny that I’ve impacted Afrobeats on a global scale,” he added.

In other news, Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, widely recognized as Rema, has set the internet abuzz with his bold statement following his recent feature in the prestigious Foreign digital magazine, I_D.

The rising Afrobeat star didn’t hold back, making a bold claim that no one can deny his significant impact on the global Afrobeats stage.
