  • Yet, his tweet set the internet ablaze with skepticism, as many couldn’t wrap their heads around the idea that it was genuinely Burna Boy dropping those congratulatory vibes.

Nigerian Grammy sensation Damini Ogulu, aka ‘Burna Boy,’ set social media ablaze with his shoutouts to fellow African artists who nailed spots on the 2024 Grammy nomination list.

Davido, Olamide, and Ayra Starr, previously reported by WITHIN NIGERIA, recently bbasked in the Grammy glow.

Burna Boy, boasting four nominations, didn’t just stop at the applause; he tossed a nod of thanks to the Grammy organizers in his shoutout, dropped via his revamped X, formerly Twitter, handle.

His tweet reads;

Burna Boy’s congratulatory message caught Nigerians off guard, triggering a flurry of diverse comments from the surprised fans.

Following the release of nominations for the 66th Grammy Awards on Friday the names of Nigerian music stars shone brightly in various categories.

Davido clinched three nominations. His emergence marked his first Grammy nomination.

Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr also made their Grammy nomination debut with one nomination each, according to the list published on the Grammy Awards website.

Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano’, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’, Davido and Musa Keys’ ‘Unavailable’, and Tyla’s ‘Water’ were the nominees in a newly created category, Best African Music Performance.

Burna Boy’s other nominations include; ‘Sitting On Top of the World’ featuring 21 Savage for Best Melodic Rap, ‘I Told Them’ for Best Global Music Album, and ‘Alone’ for Best Global Music Performance.

Davido’s other nominations include Timeless’’ for Best Global Music Album, and ‘Feel’ for Best Global Music Performance.

The 66th Grammy will be held on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
