Reason for the delayed release of Mohbad’s death probe report – Police

The Lagos State Police Command has responded to concerns and skepticism regarding the delayed release of death probe reports in the investigation of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

In a Thursday press conference, the pro-democracy group Take-It-Back Movement (TIB), in video making the rounds, demanded that the Lagos State Police Command disclose the autopsy report of the late singer, expressing dissatisfaction with the extended silence from the police, deeming it unfair to the public.

The group urged the police to address cyberbullying against Wunmi, Mohbad’s wife, and Liam, the deceased child. They emphasized that anyone caught in the act should face legal consequences.

When contacted by the PUNCH correspondent on Thursday, police spokesman Hundeyin emphasized that the command had not received the report of the autopsy conducted on Mohbad from the pathologists.

Hundeyin averred that the police would not engage in guesswork during the investigation of the death.

His words;

“We’re not the pathologists who carried out the autopsy

“When they (the pathologists) give us their report, we’ll conclude our investigation. For now, that’s what we’re waiting for. Except they want us to do guesswork, we can’t guess; we need to get the report and see the content of the result and we don’t have it yet.”

Mohbad’s demise on September 12 stirred controversies in Nigeria and beyond, prompting the police to establish an investigative team to unravel the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.

Hundeyin previously tweeted in September that an “autopsy has been concluded” on Mohbad’s corpse, and the police were “awaiting result.”

In November, the Lagos police stated that the autopsy report for Mohbad, conducted months ago, had not been handed over to them.
