AFCON: Baba ticket don cut – Reactions as Kcee loses N5M despite Super Eagles’ win against Angola

Across Nigeria, jubilation and celebration are in full swing as the Super Eagles soar higher in Ivory Coast, triumphing over Angola in the AFCON quarter-finals. However, for Nigerian singer KCee, it's a bittersweet moment as he faces mixed reactions after losing a hefty N5 million bet on the team despite their victory.

AFCON: Baba ticket don cut – Reactions as Kcee loses N5M despite Super Eagles’ win against Angola
  • KCee’s pockets took a major hit, losing a staggering N5 million despite Nigeria clinching a victory against Angola.
  • The “Ojapiano” crooner confidently placed a bet, predicting both Nigeria and Angola would find the net.
  • However, much to his dismay, the Super Eagles secured the lone goal, courtesy of Ademola Lookman’s skillful play, stirred reactions online.

The Super Eagles’ triumph against Angola in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire didn’t bode well for the “Ojapiano” crooner KCee, who ended up losing millions due to the outcome of the match.

KCee, who had raked in over ten million during Nigeria’s victory against Ivory Coast, saw his luck turn sour as he lost his stake of N5 million when Angola failed to score against the Super Eagles.

A glance at the bet slip shared by the singer on his page revealed that he had wagered on both Nigeria and Angola finding the net.

Unfortunately for him, Nigeria advanced to the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations for the 16th time in the tournament’s history after edging out Angola with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Before the match, KCee took to his Instagram page to share the bet slip, along with a caption that likely expressed his confidence or excitement about the upcoming game.

He wrote;

“Go Super eagles! I know they might score us, but we will win this surely.”

Fans didn’t hold back on social media, taunting the singer for his loss of millions of naira and questioning why he hadn’t placed a more confident bet on Nigeria to secure the win.

A first-half goal from Ademola Lookman secured the spot for Nigeria in a 1-0 win over Angola at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday.

The performance against Angola was not identical to the complete domination of Cameroon in the quarter-final, but the Super Eagles did what was needed to push themselves closer to the AFCON trophy.
