Davido announces donation of N300m to orphanages

• Davido has revealed his plans regarding his yearly N300m donation.
• For this year, the singer disclosed that details regarding the disbursement will be released on February 21.
• Davido started this donation in 2021, following a birthday pledge he made.

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, aka Davido, has announced plans to donate the sum of N300 million to orphanages across Nigeria.
The singer said he would make the donation through his foundation, The David Adeleke Foundation, as his yearly contribution to the nation.

Davido, who made the announcement via his X handle on Tuesday, February 20, promised to reveal details of the disbursement tomorrow, Wednesday.

He wrote:

“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria… as my yearly contribution to the Nation.. details of disbursement tomorrow.”

Recall that the singer donated N200m raised from his N1m challenge on his birthday in 2021, noting that he would be adding N50 million of his personal money to bring the total to N250 million.

“My goal is to do this fundraising every year to celebrate my birthday and give back to people in need,” he said, adding that he hopes to organise a fundraiser in December.

In other news, Mercy Aigbe and Bimbo Oshin have both cried out in different posts about how Nigerians are suffering amid economic hardship in the nation.

The actresses took to Instagram to lament bitterly about the state of the nation with Mercy Aigbe in her own post appealing to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to beg his father to do something about the present situation of the country.

The filmmaker made the appeal in an Instagram post with disturbing footage of a group of people collecting what seem to be food items from an NGO foundation.

Bimbo Oshin on her part stated that there’s a limit to suffering, so it doesn’t yield into angry citizens.
