In his statement, Emeka Rollas said that Ibu’s manager Don Single Nwuzor revealed that the actor suffered a cardiac arrest before he eventually died.
He wrote:
“Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr lbu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor.
“I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace.”
The actor reportedly passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos State after a protracted battle with illness.
Recall that the 62-year-old had battled health issues that led to the amputation of one of his legs.
He was diagnosed with diseased blood vessels.
His family had solicited funds from Nigerians, saying the actor “had constant clotting of the blood in his leg [diseased blood vessels] and other health challenges posing a risk to his life, therefore the need for the amputation.”
The amputation became necessary because of an infection of the arteries at the ankle that was not detected early enough.
