- He faces five count charges bordering on cyberstalking.
- The case is adjourned until May 29, 2024. VDM’s lawyers only succeeded in securing his detention in police custody rather than prison.
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of social media influencer and activist, Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman, in police custody.
This decision followed the police’s opposition to his bail application.
According to SaharaReporters, the police have charged Verydarkman with five counts of cyberstalking.
The case has been adjourned until next Wednesday, May 29, 2024. During the hearing, the police prosecution team informed Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon that they needed more time to respond to the bail application, which the court granted.
The prosecution initially sought to have Verydarkman remanded in prison custody. However, his lawyers requested that he be kept in police custody instead.
The court accepted this request, and Verydarkman was subsequently taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.
