I was collecting N4,000 per lead role in 2014 – Lateef Adedimeji
  • Lateef Adedimeji has opened up on his humble beginnings in Nigeria’s movie industry.
  • The movie star on a recent podcast revealed the meager amount he was paid when he played lead role.
  • According to Lateef Adedimeji, he got paid minimum of N4,000 per lead role.

Nigerian filmmaker cum movie actor, Lateef Adedimeji has recounted how he was underpaid despite playing lead roles in movies.

He also stated that he saw the period as a learning experience.

The ‘Jagun Jagun’ star recalled that he was receiving as low as N4,000 for a lead role in 2014, 10 years ago.

According to Lateef Adedimeji, he only started getting paid N100,000 to N200,000 for a role in 2015.

He disclosed this on the latest episode of the ‘Deep Dive’ podcast hosted by comedian, Teju Babyface.

Lateef Adedimeji said:

“If I tell people that I wasn’t collecting N100,000, N200,000 until 2015/16, a lot of people would not believe me.

“Before then, the highest I collected for a lead role was either N4,000, N5,000, or N10,000. I was paid that low back in 2014 because it was more like a learning process.”

Meanwhile, Lateef Adedimeji recently teased his wife, Bimpe Oyebade aka Mo Bimpe, when he hinted at the wide age difference between them.

Lateef, who months back celebrated his 40th birthday, in a gathering with some colleagues in the movie industry, spoke about his education while comparing it to that of his wife.

The Anikulapo series actor disclosed that his wife was preparing to gain admission to secondary school when he graduated from the university.

While some of the actor’s colleagues in the video found the claim hard to believe, Lateef Adedimeji turned to his wife and asked her to dispute his claim.

In response, Mo Bimpe, who refused to answer, stated that she is his wife irrespective of their age differences.
