Nigerian street-pop singer, Oluwabamishe Lukman Abioro, popularly known as Young Duu, has spoken out in support of skit maker Brain Jotter amidst the ongoing copyright dispute involving 94-year-old Highlife legend Mike Ejeagha.

The controversy began after Brain Jotter used one of Mike Ejeagha’s songs in his content, leading to calls for the comedian to pay the veteran musician N100 million in royalties.

In a video shared on his social media page, Young Duu praised Brain Jotter for reviving interest in Mike Ejeagha’s music and career.

The street-pop artist argued that the N2 million Brain Jotter had already given to Mike Ejeagha was sufficient compensation.

Drawing a parallel to his own experience, Young Duu mentioned that he received less than N2 million for his work on the song “Oyinmo,” which he wrote and produced for Carter Efe.

Young Duu also took the opportunity to make a special request to Brain Jotter, asking the skit maker to use his songs for content creation.

He expressed his willingness to allow Brain Jotter to use his music without any copyright complications, provided that he received N5 million in return.
