Caroline Danjuma expresses deep concern over rising food costs amidst economic hardships

Nollywood actress Caroline Danjuma has taken to social media to express her deep concern for Nigerians grappling with the soaring cost of food items.

In a Instagram post, Caroline Danjuma shared her distress after visiting a local market for the first time in years.

On Sunday, Danjuma revisited a market she once frequented with her grandmother, only to be struck by the alarming increase in prices.

She highlighted the steep costs of staple food items, including tubers of yam at ₦10,000, a small paint bucket of potatoes at ₦9,000, and a bag of rice priced at ₦85,000.

Additionally, avocado pears were going for between ₦1,000 and ₦1,500, while two pieces of titus fish cost ₦5,000.

In her emotional post, Danjuma questioned how ordinary Nigerians are managing amidst the economic downturn.

She expressed her sadness and concern for the masses.

In her words:

“I went to Sunday market yesterday, I used to go there with my grandmum, nostalgic.. hmmm… HOW ARE YOU ALL COPING ???.. a tuber of yam 10k, a small paint bucket of potatoes 9k, bag of rice 85k, avocado pear 1k /1.5k (the woman wasn’t smiling before I ask for discount two pieces of totus fish 5k … how are you all coping.. I was soooo sad I started shopping for my domestic staff inclusive .. HOW ARE YOU ALL COPING ??.. I wasn’t so keen on pricing in the market I just felt bad for the masses. EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE.. it is well with us.. 

“Just want to take out time to check up on you all today … maybe we need group sessions for mental and emotional therapy , I am willing to start it up with some of you .. Sending you all big huggs . The sun will soon shine on us all ❤️”
