Asake finally addresses fans’ request to sing in English
  • Nigerian Afrobeat star Asake addresses fans requesting more English lyrics in his songs. 
  • The response follows the release of his third studio album, “Lungu Boy,” featuring collaborations with Wizkid, Stormzy, and Travis Scott.
  • Asake expresses a preference for singing in Yoruba, despite being capable of singing in English.
  • He asserts that fans who enjoy his music must also appreciate his Yoruba lyrics.

Nigerian Afrobeat star Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has addressed fan requests for him to incorporate more English into his songs.

This comes on the heels of the release of his much-anticipated third studio album, “Lungu Boy,” which features collaborations with music stars such as Wizkid, Stormzy, and Travis Scott.

Some fans have expressed difficulty relating to Asake’s music due to the predominance of Yoruba in his lyrics.

However, during a recent Instagram Live session, the singer shared his thoughts on the matter, emphasizing his comfort with singing in his native language, Yoruba.

Asake.

He acknowledged his ability to sing in English but made it clear that his artistic preference lies with Yoruba.

He further stated that fans who appreciate his music must also embrace his Yoruba lyrics.  Asake’s response has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with fans sharing their thoughts on the language debate surrounding his music.
