  • The gospel singer had died of cervical cancer on Monday, August 12, according to her step-brother who was also a father figure to her.

Pastor Ajayi Aderogbo, the stepbrother of gospel singer Aduke Ajayi, widely known as Aduke Gold, has revealed details of her funeral arrangements.

A clip from an interview published on Wednesday reveals Pastor Aderogbo discussing his close relationship with the late singer. He said:

“I’m her elder brother and like a father to her because we share the same father but have different mothers. I began taking care of her in 1993 after the death of our father.”

He went on to share the family’s plans for her burial, saying:

“We held a family meeting and decided that the burial would take place on the 23rd of August, with several outlined programmes. On the 21st, there will be a candlelight vigil.”

In same interview, Pastor Ajayi shut down rumours of fibroid surgery being the cause of Aduke Gold’s demise, opening up on her battle with cervical cancer.

Aduke Ajayi, better known as Aduke Gold’s death was announced on Tuesday, August 13, after she passed on on Monday.

The news of her demise was shared on Tuesday by fellow gospel artiste Esther Igbeke on social media, who posted a tribute with Aduke Gold’s picture and the caption: “A general has fallen. RIP.”

Aduke Gold’s death comes in the wake of the death of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who died on April 28, 2024.

Aduke was born in 1990 in Ilesha, Osun State.

When she began her music career, many called her Aduke Penkele because of how slim she was.

She earned a degree in history and international relations from Lagos State University, higher degree in child psychology, diploma in montessori education among others.

Despite the competitive nature of the gospel music industry, Aduke Gold had made huge impacts.

Aduke Gold once shared her inspiring journey on Instagram, revealing her early struggles.
