Falz clears air on Bobrisky's N3m VIP request, demands public apology
  • Nigerian rapper Falz confirms communication with Bobrisky concerning Bobrisky’s legal issues earlier this year.
  • Bobrisky allegedly asked Falz for N3 million to secure VIP treatment at a correctional facility.
  •  Falz’s legal team, Falana & Falana Chambers, issued a letter demanding a retraction of defamatory claims made by social media personality VeryDarkMan.
  • VeryDarkMan accused Falz of conspiring with Bobrisky to financially influence the legal process, which Falz denies.

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has confirmed his involvement in a conversation with controversial social media personality Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, regarding Bobrisky’s legal troubles earlier this year.

This revelation comes after Punch News reported on the matter.

Falz disclosed that Bobrisky had reached out to him, requesting financial assistance of N3 million to secure preferential treatment, including access to a VIP section, at a correctional facility.

This statement follows a letter issued by Falz’s legal team, Falana & Falana Chambers, to Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, demanding a retraction of defamatory statements.

VeryDarkMan had accused Falz of conspiring with Bobrisky to influence the legal process by allegedly providing financial aid.

Dated September 26, 2024, the letter from Falz’s attorney, Taiwo E. Olawanle, clarified the sequence of events.

It stated that Bobrisky had initially contacted Falz on May 4, 2024, seeking advice concerning his legal predicament.

However, during the conversation, Bobrisky requested N3 million to reportedly bribe officials for a VIP treatment at the correctional center.

Falz’s legal team emphasized that while the rapper listened to Bobrisky’s concerns, he refused to offer financial assistance, deeming it unnecessary.

The letter detailed, “On May 4, 2024, Bobrisky contacted our client requesting a conversation. Out of goodwill, our client agreed, assuming Bobrisky might need legal guidance due to the charges against him. However, Bobrisky instead asked for N3 million to allegedly pay officials for access to a VIP section in the Correctional Centre.”

Despite this, Bobrisky continued to press for the money, blaming his legal advisers for recommending a guilty plea.

The letter from Falana & Falana Chambers demanded that VeryDarkMan immediately retract the defamatory allegations and issue a public apology across all platforms within 24 hours.

Failure to comply could lead to legal action, including a claim for damages to Falz’s reputation.

The controversy was further fueled by a viral video in which VeryDarkMan cited claims that Bobrisky alleged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had accepted N15 million to drop charges related to money laundering.

Bobrisky has since denied these allegations, while EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has ordered an investigation into the matter
