- Ladipoe has reacted to reports of the reignited beef between top performers, Davido and Wizkid.
- During a recent interview, the singer revealed why he doesn’t truly believe the singers beef is real.
- Pointing out how very business minded Wizkid and Davido are, Ladipoe stated that it might all be a publicity stunt.
One of the trending topics happening in Nigerian pop culture is the ongoing beef between Afrobeats powerhouses Wizkid and Davido.
The beef was reignited recently when Wizkid went on a Twitter tirade saying disparaging things against Davido out of the blue. As expected, Wizkid’s tweets garnered a lot of attention and onlookers on the beef have been giving their thoughts on what they think about it.
During a new interview with City 105.1FM, rapper Ladipoe was asked what he thinks about the beef, and the rapper seems to have his own questions about if the whole rivalry is even real.
Ladipoe was asked “What do you think about the recent beef going on with Wizkid and Davido right now?”
The singer hinted at the superstar singers beef being a song promotion tactic.
Ladipoe stated that while he personally doesn’t like the tactic, it has proven to be effective as it seems to be the same style Wizkid and Davido are playing at.
“Honest truth, honestly, I have no idea. And why I say so is because this is not the first time that there has been something like this between these two juggernaut artistes y’know. So, who is to say? And I’m not personally close to either of them to be able to look behind the veil. I’ve been somebody that has gotten to admire them from afar. I’ve definitely shaken Wizkid’s hand a couple of times. I’ve shaken David’s hand a couple of times. And in both ways, I respect them.
You know what I feel? I fall in the fanbase that feels that they are just too savvy and business minded to not one day say “pull up, Davido and Wizkid concert or Wizkid and Davido concert”. I just feel like una dey whine me. That’s my own personal feeling: una dey whine me. They are too big to not see the business opportunity in front of them. So, that’s my take. But whether it’s real or not, who is to say?
Beef for promoting stuff is an old tactic. It’s effective. I don’t love it personally, but it’s tried and tested, and it works. It’s not my preferred strategy, but it works.”
