“You can’t be rich in Nigeria without government support” – Seun Kuti blasts Nigerian billionaires
  • Afrobeats star Seun Kuti openly criticized wealthy individuals in Nigeria for their claims of being self-made.
  • Seun Kuti argued that true affluence in Nigeria is often linked to connections with government officials and contracts from politicians.
  • His remarks were directed at the Igbo community, emphasizing that many claim their wealth without acknowledging governmental support.
  • He highlighted that many prominent traders in Alaba markets rely on government dealings to achieve their wealth.

Popular Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has voiced strong criticism against billionaires in the country, challenging their narratives of self-made success.

During a recent address to the Igbo community, Seun Kuti, the son of legendary musician Fela Kuti, contended that true affluence in Nigeria is often linked to connections with government officials and contracts awarded by politicians.

Seun Kuti emphasized that many billionaires who publicly criticize the government are, in fact, benefitting from political ties.
