Asake tops Spotify’s 2024 most-streamed Nigerian artists list
  • Nigerian singer Asake ranked as the most-streamed Nigerian artist on Spotify for 2024.
  • His albums Work of Art, Lungu Boy, and Mr. Money With The Vibe dominate the list of most-streamed Nigerian albums.

Nigerian music sensation Ahmed Ololade popularly known as Asake has emerged as the most streamed Nigerian artist on Spotify for 2024.

The streaming giant unveiled this on Wednesday during its annual end-of-year recap, ‘Wrapped,’ which highlights global listeners’ music preferences.

Asake’s dominance extended beyond individual streams, as his albums Work of Art, Lungu Boy, and Mr. Money With The Vibe secured top spots among the most-streamed Nigerian albums of the year.

Interestingly, Young Jonn’s Jiggy Forever took the crown for the most-streamed album of 2024, showcasing the diversity in listeners’ choices.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy continues to make waves internationally.

He was named Nigeria’s most-exported artist and the only Nigerian to break into the UK’s top 100 artists for 2024.

In other news, South African music sensation Tyla has made history, surpassing global superstar Beyoncé to claim the title of the most streamed album by a Black female artist released in 2024.

Tyla’s self-titled debut album amassed an impressive 1.565 billion streams on Spotify, overtaking Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, which garnered 1.564 billion streams.

This achievement also crowns Tyla as the artist behind the most streamed album ever by a female African artist

The album’s lead single, Water, has been a monumental success, nearing the one-billion-stream mark on Spotify.

The track earned Tyla her first Grammy, winning the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Despite these accomplishments, Tyla’s album and its deluxe version were conspicuously absent from the recently announced 67th Grammy nominations, sparking discussions among fans and followers.

Tyla’s accomplishments this year extend beyond streaming records.
